❗️INTERVIEW❗️:

𝟏. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚 𝐨𝐟 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬

𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭?

Greg: Back in the day I had a side-project called Audionerve where I collaborated

with musicians from the scene all over the world. I reached out to Sean because I

would like to make a song with him. He dig the vibe and he layed down some

insane vocals to the track so we decided to do several songs together. The result

was mindblowing, so we thought we'd do the whole record together and Sean

became the main vocalist for Audionerve. Then Joey Jordison joined to the

project and he recommended to change the name because Audionerve is too

similar to Audioslave so we renamed the project to Vented with a completely new

image.

Sean: I had met Greg back in 2018 while on tour with Sinsaenum.

We kept in touch throughout the years and he had eventually asked me to do a

track for his band. What he sent me changed the course of my last 2 years.

I did a song, then another, then another, and after 3 songs we agreed we

needed to make this into a band.

When it came time to recruit other members to fill the positions. I reached out to

Joey to play drums on the album. He agreed and the rest was history.

He helped derive a new name and logo for the band. He also assisted in some of

the overall song themes and lyrics.

After his passing we had to find a drummer who could fill those shoes, so I

reached out to one of the best drummers I know in the business, Austin

D’amond.

Not only did he play in the same vein as Joey. He literally created one of my

favorite drumming performances, as a music fan of all time, on any record.

Then we needed someone to fill in the gaps and create the transitions and

soundscapes you hear on the record. So i reached out to my long time buddy

and electronic collaborator Simon Bondar. He filled the album out and created

some amazing sounds. He also made one hell of an intro and outro !!

𝟐. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮?

Greg: Basically, the songwriting for the whole record was quite instinctive. We

just loved to work on it, it was kinda therapeutic for us right in the middle of the

pandemic. We put so much feelings and energy into this record!

Sean: When I wrote these songs they literally flew off the page.

Overall i wrote the whole record in about a week. The songs just spoke to me,

the riffs the tones, the direction, was all just a perfect marriage of music and

timing. It was a cathartic experience for me, and got me out of a slump I was in. I needed this record more than i care to admit

𝟑. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐈'𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦? 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭?

Sean: The name came from venting all the frustrations in the world, and in our

personal lives : screaming it out and being angry because we can.

Not a teenage anger, more like a pissed off adult that hates what the world has become, and is fed up with the state of everything.

𝟒. 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩? 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞?

Sean: To complete the writing of the second album, (which we are 10 songs into already)

To tour festivals, and continue to make this band grow to it’s full potential.

𝟓. 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐚 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞

𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰?

Sean: A little bit of both, there are no restrictions. Just let it flow.

Also while writing, each member naturally incorporates there signature sound

without even thinking about it and that is exactly what we want. Raw, uncut and live.

𝟔. 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲?

Sean: I hope so, that is the plan, even to just play a few festivals would be nice!

𝟕. 𝐖𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?

The main goal initially was to just create something extremely heavy that we all

wanted to hear, that we all felt was missing from music these days; by bringing

back the old, but with a modern sound.

That i think is always going to be the goal.

Now we have shifted focus to try and grow the band, and actually make it a

household name. To basically just make the most sonically brutal music, without

being too extreme, and still having a ton of emotion.

Greg: Our main goal was to express our feelings through music and do a really

heavy record in the old-school way but with modern sounding. We don’t think too

far ahead. Come what ever may!

𝟖. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩?

Sean: Greg writes the songs, sends them to me, and i put vocals down usually within a few

hours. I spend the next few weeks tweaking and fine tuning the lyrics and vocal patterns that I

like and removing the ones that bother me. From that point we send them to Simon and he

works his sample magic, and brings the songs together. Last but not least we get Austin in the

studio and have him just write on the fly, to use his natural feeling, because he is so good at

freestyling the drums.

𝟗. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠?

Greg: Heavy grooves, high energy level and deep feelings.

Sean: You can expect deep emotional feelings, dark atmosphere, heavy grooves, angry vocals

and deep seated meanings about life, and things that stand in our way, and effect each and

every one of us.
